Tip of the Month

How can I verify that binarized objects are disconnected?

When creating a routine, it is often useful to check whether objects are disconnected before and after a Separate (or Reconstruct) instruction or any other function aimed at segmenting objects .

1. From the Edit Toolbar on the left hand side of the Image window click on the Bitplane Flyout button and select the bitplane color of the objects you wish to examine.
2. From the set of tools at the top of the Image
window select the Object Labeling button. This will assign a different color to each distinct object. If two objects are touching they will be the same color.
3. You can now turn this feature off by clicking the Object Labeling button again. Or, you may wish to leave it on if you intend to further separate your objects.
