What is image analysis software?

Basically, it is a program that allows digital images to be acquired and processed so as to obtain quantifiable results. Clemex microscope software is fully integrated with the hardware (stage, camera, microscope) so that image manipulation becomes part of an automated process resulting in NIST traceable and reproducible measurements.

Image analysis is typically divided into four major steps:

  1. image acquisition & enhancement [LUTs, sharpening, noise filterning]
  2. object or phase detection [gray or color threshold]
  3. image processing [based on object morphology or intensity]
  4. measurements [area percent or object distribution]
