Breaking the barrier of image analysis
Clemex Vision AI.
Artificial intelligence for microscopy has never been more accessible or user-friendly. Our Clemex Studio software is used directly within Clemex Vision, deploying powerful algorithms that redefine the segmentation workflow through a no-code, user-centric approach. This enables domain experts and scientists to detect, classify, and measure materials seamlessly, all within a single, integrated environment for end-to-end analysis.

Streamlined Workflow

1. Import Images
Upload a few images that are representative of your sample: as few as 1-10 images will give adequate results.

2. Annotate
Using simple painting tools fill in the areas of the image that correspond to the background and the features you wish to detect. This action is usually done on one to a few images depending on the complexity of the application.

3. Train
Hit the Train button to proceed with the automatic prediction on the whole series of imported images. In typical use cases this process takes approximately 8 to 30 seconds.

4. Obtain Results
Once you have finished fine-tuning a segmentation algorithm you can simply download it as a plugin and use it to obtain results with the latest version of Clemex Vision.
Applications using AI
Our image analysis software is exceptionally flexible, allowing for any number of distinct routines to be run on the same system. These routines come packaged as a library of existing applications or can be developed by our applications specialists.

Determining percentage of nodularity
- Flakes are a defect of nodularity. During magnesium treatment flakes are transformed into nodules. Any remaining flakes are considered defects. Adequate training of the Clemex Studio algorithm has proven successful in detecting the nodules and flakes automatically to get accurate results of nodularity. Measurements are obtained using Clemex Vision.

Measurement of ferrite/austenite phases
- Delta Ferrite is a common phase in austenitic stainless steel. The etching of this corrosion resistant material is sometimes challenging and the resulting phases are often affected by various intensity rendering (stains), making it difficult to use traditional thresholding. With the trainable algorithm of Clemex Studio, you can very easily detect the percentage of delta ferrite/austenite and sigma phase (when present).

Porosity analysis in aluminum
- Measuring the porosity level helps you to indicate whether the material meets the requirements regarding the area of the pores and porosity percentage. With Clemex Studio you can quickly train the algorithm to detect pores and Vision PE calculates the results – e.g. percentage of porosity – so you are able to characterize your casting process for quality assurance.
